TAPS Funding

Currently we have thousands of employees taking classes, earning degrees, and furthering their education with government funding. All employees taking classes using government funding should be on a mandatory Career Learning Path to re-invest the resources within the agency. The employees should also be in a database for recruitment purposes for jobs being announced that requires skills for the classes taken. Many... more »

FMLA Long Term

It would be a benefit if there was an option to renew FMLA for life long conditions that would not require the entire FMLA process to be repeated each year. It seems it would be more cost effective if the process was streamlined to include a simple renewal process for the continuation of the FMLA benefit for life-long illnesses. This could also be a monetary savings for employees as most health care providers now charge... more »

Stop Abuse of Government Funded Programs

I feel that a Government Task Force should be created to stop the abuse and misuse of Government Funded Programs. Some recipients have created scams to abuse the system and some who are eligible to receive funds misuse the funds that they receive and because they have gotten away with it in the past they continue to abuse the system. In the end this Task Force could recover and/or save billions of dollars.

Travel

More use should be made of the tchnology available to the government to reduce travel costs. This would not only be a "green" choice but a practical choice. For example it costs millions to send individuals to all managers meetings and to have employees act for the individuals traveling. We have so much technology available that would allow for all managers meetings, territory meetings, training, etc. to be conducted... more »

CFC

Individuals must reregister for CFC comtributions on a yearly basis. This costs time and money to complete and process the requests. Change the system to an opt out system. If you want to continue contributions you do nothing, if you was to stop or change contributions then action must be taken.

Solar Collector Panels

I know that there is a large roof surface area on the submission processing building in Austin, TX. I'm sure the same goes for other buildings throughout the country. It seems that alot of money could be saved by installing solar collector panels and use the benefits of the blistering Texas Sun. It also would save on water usage to have a rain water collection system set up. Water becomes a vital resouce during a severe... more »

Combined Federal Campaign - reduction in paper copes

I'd like to reduce the amount of paper processing for the Combined Federal Campaign. Each year, to meet an OPM requirement, area campaigns print both campaign directories showing the approved organizations and pledge cards for the entire federal workforce. Printing both directories and pledge cards are a direct expense the local campaign must pay. Now that electronic donations are possible (via employee express for... more »

Elliminate tax deductions

Elliminate all tax deductions and make a fair flat tax rate for all citizens. Having a more simple tax code will reduce the manpower and effort in the IRS as the only audits will be to answer if you paid or not and if you reported the proper income or not. No deduction varification would be required.

Supplies less ordered

Supplies are a welcomed commodity in some branches of government. I think we can service other agencies as well as our own by changing the way we order supplies and distribute supplies. Any secretary should be allowed to order supplies for any employee which can be funded by a general funding code. Any unusual supplies would need special approval. Other agencies that have surpluses can post the surpluses to all governemnt... more »

Getting the Most ouf of Digital Records

Federal Agency should maximize the use of digital records by: 1. Requiring most digital records to be in optical character readable (OCR) format. 2. Providing adequate software to fully utilize digital records such as find and search software. 3. Providing employees training on effective uses of digital records. There are various federal acts dealing with digital records such as the Government Paperwork Elimination... more »

Management & Program Assistant

Cell phones are issued to Managers and Revenue Officers that are not being utilized. Set a minimum minute usage per month. If the cell phone minimum minute usage is not met for 3 consecutive months, the cell phone should be disconnected to save government money.
