Cut government regulations and bureaucracy

Too many in the House, the Senate and the White House do not want to analyze the regulations they and their predecessors have written into law and make the tough decisions - STOP doing what doesn't work and wastes money, STOP doing frivolous things that causes businesses to raise the cost of business and stops them from expanding and hiring more people, STOP doing things that causes needless paperwork and time-consuming ...more »

Add one cent onto all transactions to pay off nations's debt

Whether we like it or not, the national debt is the accumulation of the citizens as a whole. We vote the citizens in that pass laws and bills on both the national and state level. We request/demand that the programs that are currently in place are there to help others and ourselves. Therefore, the debt is our own. One way to take ownership of the debt as a nation is to add one cent onto every transaction nationwide to ...more »

Incentive to Spend

I work in contracting and it is very clear to me and everyone I've talked to that there is an incentive to spend all the money given, not save it. It's called End of Fiscal Year Spending. If you don't use it, you lose it. This is a problem with the way the budgets are created and dispersed. Any money that you do not spend, money you save, many times gets taken away from next year's budget. This is what has people ...more »

Treasury Department Offset Mailings

The Treasury Department takes money from federal payments to recoup money owed to other agencies. In doing so, they mail the offset notices to the affected person at the address provided by the agency to which they owe the debt. Often, the problems with debt collection arise from that agency not having the correct address for the person in the first place. This causes the agency which issued the offset payment to spend ...more »

Don't Default - Save $1.4 Trillion per Year

We pay about 5% on long-term debt. Greece pays 15%. If we default and start paying 15% like Greece, it will cost an additional $1.4 trillion per year in interest, based on 10% times debt of $14 trillion. The additional $1.4 trillion in interest is equivalent to about 2/3 of the federal government's annual revenue.

Now Adopt These Ideas

There are plenty of "what to do" and "how to do it" ideas. Had the big ticket items of the 2009 SAVE and 2010 SAVE campaigns been implemented, or if the current 2011 SAVE ideas were used immediately to lower spending and inefficiencies -- today's debt ceiling debate would not be needed. It is no longer a question of 'what' or 'how', but a need to know that the 'when' is past due -- act now and don't stop selecting ideas ...more »
