I see advertisements for public assistance programs everywhere it seems and I can't seem to understand the logic behind it. There is no competition and the necessary contact information is in the phone book, if you still use one, as well as online.
A follow to my post below: I learned that although the gov't has well-trained, talented people, we are using outside contractors to do the work at $300 an hour that we could/should do ourselves. Make members of Congress where patches on their clothing like NASCAR drivers to show who is giving them special interest money. This would generate money for the government through the ad revenues and would let the public know what companies and people are financing our elected officals.
We should allow advertising on the sides of our FAA Airport Traffic Control Towers (ATCTs) in order to provide additional funding for our operations. Estimated revenue stream (based on highway billboards) of $35 Million from our top 35 ATCTs.
Generate money by selling advertising space to the highest bidder. Everyone else does it, why not the government?
Sell advertising on government issued publications to defray the cost of printing and mailing.
