Save Awards - Reviewed By GAO Fraud, Waste, and Abuse

I've seen quite a number of recommendations that appear to be reports of fraud, waste, and abuse. These include everything from inappropriate use of government vehicles to abuse of governement hiring practices. The GAO should receive a summary, especially of heavily trended topics that would appear to be fraud, waste, or abuse cases. Submitters should also consider this. If it's that bad, don't just wait until Save... more »

Executive Office of the President

Gut Administration, and Management.

Every organization in the government, spends way too much money on administration, and management, and we all know it. Gut the middle layers. Fire some people. The most important place to do this, unfortunately is the school system, which the federal Government has little control over. We need more competent laborers, there are a plethora of unemployed people, and instead of giving those people jobs we're wasting... more »

Please address concerns about management abuse

There are various examples where employees try to seek out assistance in order to alleviate very stressful situations with innapropriate management. Sometimes it is discrimation, other times is bulling, other times is just an issue with personality conflict or simply management acting innapropriately at work. If the agency continues to "brush" off these complaints by dismissing them quickly at the EEO levels, they are... more »

Implement BVAMC Beneficiary Travel Tool Nationally

Early in July I developed a beneficiary travel tool to expedite a task for myself and a colleague in calculating copious amounts of information on Beneficiary Travel mileage. Upon utilizing this tool, it became evident this simple tool could be used by other VA staff to more accurately complete beneficiary travel vouchers. The tool is a simple web based interface that tells the mileage between a Veteran’s residency... more »

Cut niceties

For example, a co-worker recommended we send out our organization's information, to the 140+ personnel who were coming to visit, in an electronic document. Our leadership didn't like that idea and instead we spent more than $2,000 on organizational binders, not including the man-hours that went into creating the binders. We shouldn’t be buying niceties when we are in debt, i.e., pretty pens with the government funds... more »

Travel Pay Over Paid

Many people are very aware of the abuse of travel pay by many veterans. Some say it should be eliminated but that will most likely not happen anytime in the near future. I am a nurse in Primary Care at a VA and witness and report this abuse frequently. Many veterans truly need help to get to their appointments and developing our own transportation system, as others suggested would also cost a great deal. For the fastest... more »

Honesty Is The Best Policy

Have all Federal employers' Human Resources departments apply a psychological screening test that will indicate the level of integrity / honesty of job applicants. (Once the dishonest people are employed by the Federal Government, it's likely too late to oust them, especially if the supervisor / manager does not assume responsibility, or, worse yet, the supervisor or manager is dishonest.) Also, a fool-proof method of... more »

Ban on applicants with history of fraud

Current policy allows anyone to file a new claim or appeal any unfavorable decision with no limit. Many individuals are clearly not disabled but continue to file claims for decades. Create legislation to ban any individual from filing or appealing any disability claim if the agency documents false statements made by the the applicant. Document the fraud and flag the individual so the new claim or appeal is quickly... more »

Create Agency to Investigate Fraud of Benefits

The government should create an investigative branch that actively observes / watchers every single person who receives any type of government disability check or welfare check to root out fraud and then prosecute these individuals for theft who have been actively defrauding the government.. The government should then seize the assets including bank accounts and retirement accounts of the person(s) who defrauded the... more »

The Department of Veterans Affairs loses $800 MILLION annually on improper and fraudulent payments. And the FRAUD list goes on and on and on, totaling OVER $100 BILLION PER YEAR!!! 1ST...I suggest that we include the statement... more »

REDUCE THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT

Lets hire an productivity consultant agency to find the departments and parts of Government that are redundant or unproductive and eliminate all the parts that are not needed. If we actually do this it will cut the size of Government by probably 1/3 at least!!! It would save billions! (might hurt the unemployment statistics tho....) (But if they are not working productively then why should tax payers have to pay for it?!)... more »
