Reduction of Uniform Allowance

The USDA allocates $800 per year to regular employees and $400/yea for part-timers. The VA also purchases different types of uniforms for their employees; the TSA and Border Patrol also do have annual uniform funding. Other Agencies must also be generous with the funding for uniforms. It would be a huge cost-savings for the government by reducing the allowances for uniforms.

Misuse of "High Security" shipping container seals

I highly recommend discontinuing the required use of very expensive "high security" shipping container seals for shipping containers that have completed an "Agriculture" inspection. Prior to the "merger" of the USDA inspectors into Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there were no seals put on containers by Government agents after an agriculture inspection was completed. There was/is no need for it. The containers were ...more »

Annual Leave

Possibly allow certain depts/agencies to turn in up to 80 hrs annual leave at 1/3 their salary for an extra check during a fiscal year. Set a max salary cap .

Ex. $1800(reg bi-week) - 1/3 ($600) = $1200 . That would save an agency $ 600000 with 1000 employees @ that salary. Possibly reducing future cash spent on salaries , due to less accumulated hrs and wage increases.

Supplies

Person in charge of inventory/ purchasing supplies should by items on sale as opposed to when needed . Tally up office supplies needed for the year and purchase in sale season.

Ex. Before school starts in most states u can get 10 pack of pens for 25-50 cents during the rest of the year it'll cost $1.50- $2.50 for same pens.

Multi Family Housing,earned income credit

Multi Family housing provides rental assistance for low income families to provide safe, decent, sanitary housing. Low income families receive, if eligible, a Earned Income Credit upon filing income tax. The Earned Income Credit they would receive should be saved into a housing account which could be used to purchase a home. Save for 5 years, as there would be a 5 year cap for receiving rental assistance.

Smaller e-mails (save elec $ and carbon)

Reduce the amount/size of e-mail traffic – lower agency energy costs and carbon footprint. As one example, I regularly receive simple text messages of around 500,000 bytes--due to a graphical letterhead/logo. These presumably are sent to all agency employees –- say 30,000 people. That is 1,500,000 unnecessary kilobytes for each e-mail sent. (30,000 x 500,000 bytes = 1,500,000,000 bytes = 1,500,000 KB = 1,500 MB) ...more »

Wildfire costs defer to country of illegal immigrants

It is well known in the wildfire community after an investigation how and who may have started the devastating wildfires that have consumed the southwest U.S. Sometimes it is by accident or even weather related, but sometimes it is a diversion for the Border Patrol so the illegal immigrants who are drug smugglers and slave traders can cross without capture. U.S. land, homes and people suffer the most with only the U.S. ...more »

accountability

We currently have a large number of employees who sleep on the job, socialize ALL day, and are otherwise not giving a full days work for the taxpayer's dollar. We need to implement an accountability plan to the performance review process which allows managers to satisfy the union and be able to cull employees who are not performing. Objective criteria holds up in litigation and allows the employee quantifiable means by ...more »

Detention & Removal Assistant

I would like to see less fraud and abuse of the Welfare System to include but not limited to: Food Stamps, Housing, Medicaid, etc. I see the abuse daily. Also, the waste of money on the military bases. Perfectly good items not being repaired or destroyed instead of selling or donating.
