Reduce Mailing Costs

All federal employees employees receive leave and earning statement ("LES") each pay period. These are available on-line for every employee. If the payroll agencies stop mailing these statements, it could result in over $21 million in savings per year. This also could be done for the military, as they receive the same statement.. No Cover Pages when Printing Documents

Require that no cover pages be printed in order to save the government money on paper costs. Instead use a simple header with the originator initials and total pages of the document (i.e. JR, 1 of 1), so that all pages can be easily separated in offices with heavy printer usage. Also suggest (saw the same idea noted before I typed this idea) that these be printed in Century Gothic Font to save money on ink cartridges. ...more »

Save on Energy

Save money by installing motion sensitive light switches in storage rooms, bathrooms, conference rooms, etc. and any space that is not used during the majority of the work week. Dimmers can be used in common work areas and set to dim an hour after the last shift ends, and set to full light and half hour before the first shift starts.
