Cut Overpaid Congressmen and Senators

Congressmen and Senators are paid far too much for what they produce, which is next to nothing. Cut their salaries by 50% and completely take away pention/retirement pay after ANY number of years served. Theirs is a civil service job, not one meant to make you rich, which it does to the most corrupt of political leaders, the ones in high office.

Honor the Dead Warriors by Helping the Service Connected Veteran

Stop providing duplicate Social Security and Veterans Affairs benefits to Non Service Connected Veterans. This new initiative would be similar to the program now in effect between the Department of Defense and the Veterans Affairs for military retirees. Social Security Benefits are a duplicate for Non Service Connected Pensions. The Non Service Connected Pension Benefits is for a veteran that was not injured or ...more »

RN

In many departments overtime pay is given to employees after 8 hours of work regardless of how much or how little they work (hours) per week.

Overtime pay should be paid after completing 40hrs of work. An RN working intermittent is paid time and a half after 8hours. Many work a 12 hour shift once/week because it's their second job.

Intelligence Community IT consolidation

Require the Intelligence Community to consolidate it's business IT systems to a common platform. Right now, CIA, NGA, NSA, NRO, and others maintain their own unique (and often un-interoperable) IT systems. This could carry-over and expand to include financial management, ERP systems, etc. The agencies will claim they have unique requirements, but they aren't so unique that we cannot resolve and consolidate these requirements ...more »

Daily Order Summary

This item is generated every 24 hrs @ 0100 hrs. It serves as a back-up in case of computer shut-down or failure. More often than not, it is merely tossed into the shredder. Every unit in every V.A. hospital ,nation-wide receives 50-150 sheets of paper each night. Perhaps another less costly method has been or is being developed as back-up for our computer systems.

Get OFF the bottle in Congress!

Prohibit the use of bottled water in Congress. Mandate that glasses and pitchers be used (or re-usable water bottles). Watch CSPAN sometime and see how many 16 ounce bottles of water are all over the TV while folks are testifying or having hearings. Individual servings of bottled water are a HUGE waste of money. DC tap water is just fine, and ALL of Congress should be drinking tap water (as well as those testifying ...more »

Extend Tax Incentives on Solar to Renters

I rent a house, and recently paid for upgrades to the house as a way of reducing our energy consumption (insulation, new doors, etc.). I had a solar audit done, and found out that I am not eligible for tax rebates/incentives on solar installation because I am just a rentor. My landlord is not eligible for the incentives either because he is not living in the house as his primary residence. There is HUGE potential ...more »

Energy Efficiency in Military Housing

Create legislation that allows military personnel who live in government-provided housing to perform energy efficient upgrades at their own expense. This idea would save installations in water/electricity utilities, and would not require any new monies to be allocated in the budget. Military families know how to save, and often adopt a conservationist lifestyle out of necessity to stretch the family dollar. Things ...more »
