I see far too many employees who simply show up to work--but don't--or have very low levels of productivity. We used to have a written count of names of those who took a turn at examining bags at TSA. I propose we do this again, and those of us who barely work should be warned, suspended, and/or cut from the workforce. Cut the a/C bill by increasing the temp to 80 degree in summer and winter keep it to 64 degrees. Cut the food bill feed them with half of the meal size (2 meals with existing one meal) and two times a day and not three times a day. Take one meal for poor people in our neighborhood. SSI for families should have a cap. A family with four people on SSI, Medicaid, Food Stamps and Section 8 housing, is making what amount to a $70,000/ year tax free income. We need to revamp SSI, I don't say abolish it; but if there are four people in a household, why should each of them receive $674? Why not put it on a sliding scale? Currently, we have to run numerous queries when working up cases and scan them into the files including a DIBWIZ. Employee drivers to transport mail between SSA ODAR offices to and from local District Offices & field offices. This would result in a half a million dollars saved by paying an annual salary, using the government scale-providing a vehicle for the transportation and a gas card. Our great country which offers us all of our rights and freedoms has also created CEO "monsters" who receive multi-million dollar yearly bonuses for making a profit. Making a profit is what they were hired for in the first place, and that is what they are getting paid their regular salary for. Lets face the facts. People are in prison because they have committed crimes. They are being PUNISHED! They should not have facilites that offer them any luxuries. There should be no multi-million dollar gyms with air conditioning, no TV, and no special food. They can get their exercise buy working. The federal government spends too much money on discrimination/retalation suits, because managers face no financial repercussion. The way the system runs thus far is managers face no threat of guilty findings. The citizens pay for their actions, but have no knowledge of how much money is spent on legal fees. Limit the number of times you can appeal to 3-4. If looking to overturn a conviction, re-try by jury. if found guilty by 2 seprate juries, you lose all rights to appeal further. This should include Death penalty cases, and hopefully put more focus on Innocent Until Proven Guilty.
We outsource many products and services. Why not outsource incarceration of certain types of criminals to Mexico, Korea, Australia, etc. Maybe with the possibility of being put in jail in one of these places recidivism would drop off. Employees that accumulate sick leave are dedicated to their work. Employees that call in for any little reason are not so dedicated. In fact employees have a choice to use annual leave or sick leave when they call in for emergencies or for sick leave. Since the confimation process is so political anyway, why push for direct election of judges? This would keep the party in power from stacking benches, and give the people representation in the process.
It is time to cut judicial overhead. Seven justices should be able to accomplish the same workload as 9 and at a lower cost to the taxpayers.
