The US Government should do an IPO on Wall Street to raise some money. This would differ from bonds, as it will not be a sale of debt, but common stock just like regular companies. In fact, each agency could even do it's own IPO. Each agency that decides to do this would be held to the same financial reporting standards and requirements as other publicly traded companies.

Can we not afford to put a little money and effort into making the grounds between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial look "nice." Trees... shrubbery... grass... edging... sidewalks that are not broken/buckled. There were far more deaths in the District of Columbia as a result of homicides in the past 10 years than there were in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The cost of investigating homicides and prosecuting the murderers is excessive when looked at in whole due to the sheer number of homicides in the district. IT WILL SAVE MONEY ON PAPER AND STORAGE OF THE FORMS. MOST PROCESSEES IN THE GOVERNMENT TODAY REQUIRE TOO MANY STEPS TO BE EFFICIENT. when printing documents from Microsoft Word, most documents could reduce paper by printing double-sided.To print double sided, you have to edit properties before printing. Change properties to make double-sided copies the default- one could always edit this property to get one-sided copies if needed. This will result in a significant decrease in amount of paper used.
1- Set all printers to default to 2 sided printing, its never used!
2- Do not allow 3 printers in a tiny office w/ 1 or 2 users! use network printers and inform users that walking 4 feet to get your papers is just fine! you will save millions and its green!
Government facilities around the world sell products or contain venders which sell products in packaging made of recyclable materials but there is no policy in place which makes recycling madatory for all government facilities.
