Senior Associate General Counsel

To reduce long term costs each agency should review and reduce the length that it keeps temporary records in the Federal Records Centers. As an example of the potential savings, note that my agency has a 50 year temporary record retention schedule. Even if no additional holding were added to our current records, and the cost of storage and cubic feet stayed the same a 50 percent reduction in the required retention period ...more »

paper consumption / electricty reduction

1. set two-sided ("eco-print")as the default option for all government printers. This would cut paper consumptio in half for no cost. 2. INstall motion activated light switches in all rooms other than offices (supply rooms, conference rooms, etc.) if not offices too; 3. install solar panels on roofs of every new federal building. this would cost something, but would invest in the right energy market and set a ...more »

federal fleet vehicles

Current Process: Federal Law Enforcement personnel drive government cars to/from home each day at the government's expense. Problem: Daily, the Federal Government is paying significant sums for both gasoline and wear and tear on goverment cars solely for commuting purposes. Only a skeleton crew work at night. Many personnel do not even live within a short radius, and thus, are never readily available anyway. ...more »

Current Process: Federal training usually occurs at distant locations. Problem: Training which could be video taped, edited, updated and include guest/expert speakers (taped in advance) avoiding hotel & per diem costs while maximizing personnel allowed to attend would enhance shared knowledge and learning. To re - enforce security to all the states of America

I would end all wars and place more security within our homeland (U.S.A.) which would save billions of dollars and place more money within the U.S. government. Also withdraw all U.S. forces from other countries and let these nations build and govern themselves. Most important, stop funding international agencies who are not sincere United States policies.

Front End Immigration hearings

I’m a court administrator with the Executive Office for Immigration Review. Are agency is responsible of conducting thousands of Immigration hearing throughout the country each year. My suggestion for cutting cost has to do specifically with the individuals who are detained. From my experience there is an opportunity to adjudicate many individuals sooner rather than later which is not the current norm. Specifically ...more »

Government coordination

We try to collect restitution on crimes that should never have occured. People steal from SS, VA, don't pay student loans, get unemployment from jobs they scammed. The perpetrators know we are disjointed. That is really why our coffers are empty. We need to establish hotlines agency to agency and Feds to state entities. I cannot waste time being treated as an outsider on phone trees and menus. We cannot contact Dept of ...more »

Electronic Days

Instead of having to print out paperwork everyday, we need to make more things available on the intranet. Overtime, Work Orders and such should be filled out and stored on the intranet.
