Cost Price Analyst

Make severance cost unallowable for the Defense Contractors. Defense Contractors are profiting from cutting thier human resources and in some cases rehiring the same employees as consultants.

Senior Correctional Officer

Hello, I have noticed that our department has purchased several new vehicles that are not used very often. We also have vehicles that sit and collect dust .My idea is to find out which vehicles are being used at each facility and get rid of those that are not in use. Vehicles that are not in use, can be sold at the auction to people that actually need a vehicle. This will save money on the cost of maintaining the vehicles ...more »

Exchange Officer

The USAF 70th Intel Wing is based at Ft Meade. In order to secure command billets for the 14N (intel officer) career field, multiple squadrons exist with 5 operational missions scattered amongst these squadrons. The result is 5 squadrons, each with an operational mission and the remainder of the personnel in the squadrons being assigned to the NSA with administrative control given to these squadrons. A more efficient ...more »

Out Sourcing

I have witness when ever a Gov't Vehical break down, or just need repair we will normaly have an out side local repair shop do the repair for us. And they charge Govt all kind of crazy prices. When the Govt can hire quality mechanics to do the same repair. I believe two things can happen if the Govt do this 1)the Govt creat jobs 2) govt save money.

XXXX Helmet (Fourth Generation)

Design and manufacture a new helmet for Service members. The current Kevlar helmet is big and bulky and is too heavy for the average individual. The new design should be lighter and fit to an individual's entire head without obscuring their vision. It should also provide equal or better protection than the current helmet. This will save the lives of our service members, create manufacturing jobs, and create a cost saving ...more »

Making a full transition to electronic medical records

Currently the Air Force is working on switching to electronic medical records. The savings and advantages of electronic medical records are many and well known and I applaud the effort. But, unfortunately, the Air Force has decided to phase out the physical medical records by attrition rather than digitizing the physical records and making a full transition to electronic. This approach may avoid the initial investment ...more »

copier maintenance agreements

An unpublished audit report a few years ago determined, with the exception of two copiers on one installation,it would be cheaper for all but two units to buy a new copier each year than to continue to use a leased copier, with a maintenance agreement. The Air Force copiers were obtained from DAPS (Defense and Printing Service) - a required source for Dept of Defense Air Force copiers. (I think it is an overall DoD requirement, ...more »

Warrant Officers and the US Air Force

The most readily obvious source of monetary savings is the lower salaries of warrant officers compared to that of officers currently holding technical positions. According to the Air Force Personnel Center website, there are 14,083 active duty pilots in the Air Force. If half of the Air Force‚Äôs pilot slots were to be converted to W-4s, and assuming that the average pay of the officers in those positions is that of an ...more »

Local Live Backup Copy

Internet and online server instability is ruining the digital experience. Give production users access to a server on the local network that is a copy of their remote servers. Use syncing software to keep the copies exact. Qualitative costs can be calculated on the reduction of downtime. Vaults are already designed for servers for added security. Locally installed clients and web based applications can be configured ...more »
