TEMP STOP TYING NEXT YEARS AGENCY BUDGETS TO OBLIGATION RATES

End of fiscal year results in Agencies scrambling to spend every remaining dime in the coffers to ensure budget does not get cut for the next year. For INSTANT fund availability, Guarantee Agencies equal budget or budget as forecasted and retrieve unspent funding in the mid 4th quarter with no "future budget penalty" because of lower obligation rates. Planned acquisitions will be submitted or complete by then and it ...more »

Prioritize the nations needs

remove 'special interest funding' so that we can focus on the needs of the nation as a whole. Look at the impact on the lowest common denominator before making broad reaching decisions. This nation is passed the breaking point and no one is willing to give up their piece. Be socially responsible!

Stop bailing out failing businesses:

They're going under because they don't know how to do business not because of the economy. Notice Apple and Microsoft are doing just fine - growing actually. If you give a homeless man $10k he'll either be dead or still homeless after one month. He didn't become homeless because he didn't have money; he became homeless because he didn't know what to do with money. Giving a failing business money only makes things ...more »

Check your contractor

In my time in the government I have seen contractors time and time again pull shenanigans. These contractors are wasteful. Time and time again, they somehow require much more money and time than they originally bid to do the job. They are taking advantage of Uncle Sam's now shallow pockets. Contractors should be required to finish the project as contracted, on time and within budget. They lowball the bid to get the ...more »

Budget Deficit & Lost Jobs!

It seems that with the current deficit in the TRILLIONS, government needs to be looking at some higher level (internal) cutbacks, not medicare, medical, social security, jobs etc. How about NOT giving Congressmen retirement AT FULL PAY, just for being a congressman! I certainly don't get anything near that, and I've put in nearly 27 years of government service. Just think of the savings with a cut like that! There ...more »

Eliminate Congressional Retirements

Congressmen should not be allowed to receive a congressional retirement. They shouldn't serve for long period of times, but should return to private life after one or two terms. We need congress to represent the people, not themselves.

Subsidize personal cell phones

Pay employees $25/month to use their own cell phone. Supervisors certified the need. This may be a problem at activities that prohibit cameras unless the user is willing to have a phone without a camera (like me). (Blackberry devices might not be eligible because of the sensitivity of data accessed). To make this work, the Joint Travel Regulations or any Comptroller requirement that employees submit a claim for reimbursement ...more »

Balance the budget

Our founding fathers served in Congress and Senate without pay. Our Congress and Senate today are the highest paid people in the Federal Workforce with the most free perks of anyone and by God they get a raise every year, but the little people that pays their wages do not get a say. My suggestion is to cut their pays in half and eliminate the perks!

Furniture replacement

Current budget is extremely limited. Right now, I have an excellent 5 spoke office chair with good back support, which I am not allowed to donate due to GSA rules. Change the rules, inspect the chair, it is a $280 chair, after I retire, it can be passed on. It will pass safety inspection; why should taxpayers buy another chair? The one I use has the seat slipping down to the ground, I pull it up, over and over all day, ...more »

Full TIme Job - Full Time Hours

Members of Congress are taking FULL TIME money from the tax paying public, so they should be required to be in Washington doing their job FULL TIME. With the availability of the internet, e-mail, skyping etc. they can spend virtual time in the homeState with constitutents on the weekends, or their constituents can come to DC for visits. BUT, just as we Feds have to work full time for our paycheck, and have to work virtually ...more »

Correctional Officer/Federal Bureau of Prisons

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 2. Congress (past, present and future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security System immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security System, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used ...more »
