Get rid of Congresses Personal Jets and Other things

Right now the biggest thing that comes to my mind is Nancy Pelosi and the multi million dollar jet she had the government pay to get her so she could fly nonstop from her home state to DC, with her, her crew, and 200 reporters. Seriously, why is the government paying to transport reporters? Everytime her aircraft flys in any direction it costs the taxpayers 60,000 dollars. Why not do away with all the private aircraft, ...more »

UNEMPLOYMENT = COMMUNITY SERVICE

If we are going to pay people who are unemployed, why don't we get some work out of them!? If nothing else, maybe there can be a minimum amount of community service required to collect these benifits! Just think of all the community projects that could be accomplished by all these millions of people! They would still have more than enough time to search for new jobs, and it might even incintivise some of the people that ...more »

Stop helping everyone else and help OURSELVES!!

The US is willing to spend our hard earned tax dollars helping other countries that don't even want to help themselves. It's time to stop paying foreign aid and save that money until we can turn our debt around. Once we get our debt under control we can revisit the idea of wasting our money on other countries.

END BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP!!

This is an idea from the 1800s that anyone born on United States soil is automatically a citizen. Other countries do not do this! You have to be born of a citizen to be a citizen. I think ending this practice will basically solve one of the biggest immigration issues we have. The practice of illegal imigrant coming here to have children (aka anchor babies) so that they can stay in this country. Just something to think ...more »

Eliminate End of Year Spending

Eliminate End of year spending. Allow money to cross fiscal years. This would eliminate the need to do new Purchase orders every October 1 for contracts from the previous years. If money can flow across the FY then it has the ability to save the government time, money and energy. There should be an incentive to return any unused portion of an agencies budget to the treasury.

One Security Clearance to Cover all Agencies

My idea is to have one security clearance, or background check to cover all, or at least most agencies. For example right now a person can already have a Top-Secret clearance with the Department of Defense, and they would have to start a background investigation all over again if they were to apply with another agency, even if it’s only for a Secret clearance. They would have to fill out the same SF-86, the same eQip ...more »

Zero Tolerance for Fraud

The GAO estimates $17 BILLION dollars of improper Medicare payments each year. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays out $4.6 BILLION in improper and fraudulent benefits annually. The Department of Veterans Affairs loses $800 MILLION annually on improper and fraudulent payments. And the FRAUD list goes on and on and on, totaling OVER $100 BILLION PER YEAR!!! 1ST...I suggest that we include the statement ...more »

SAVE MILLIONS PER YEAR BY ELIMINATING WASTED BAH!

There are over 30K mil couples (one mil member married to another) on active duty in the USAF. Both spouses are receiving untaxed Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). One of the member’s is receiving BAH at the “single” rate (i.e. they have a spouse and/or child) rate, while the other is also receiving BAH at the “single” rate. This is obviously necessary, if they are stationed in separate locations. However, if they are ...more »

REFORM CONGRESS

A lot of boys and girls grow up and want to serve their country. These children see their parents working hard, paying their bills, being honest, and respecting each other. When some of these children grow up, they decide that they want to run for political office. Some of these big children get elected to the Congress in Washington DC. WHAT HAPPENS??? A lot of these big children forget the importance of paying their ...more »

Reduce software expenses with open source software and standards

Currently, the U.S. government spends in excess of $1 billion annually to license software -- software that produces documents that are difficult to access after a few years because the new version of the software often doesn't work with the older documents. Since the document formats are proprietary, we have no way to access these documents other than by maintaining the unsupported older software. This has made transparency ...more »

Pay the SAVE Award Winner a percentage of the savings...

Pay the winner of the SAVE Award contest a percentage of the savings that their idea generates in improving the quality of government output at lower costs or efficiency. This financial incentive would launch the potentiality and the dynamic energy of the brain power of more than 2-million federal employees located around the world. What should be the amount of the financial incentive for an individual winner or group ...more »

Turn off computer monitors at night.

Turn off computer monitors at night. Computer monitors can always be turned off at night. Computer upgrades can occur with monitor screens switched off. Leaving computer monitors on at all times is a huge waste of energy and dollars. It is completely unneccessary!! Let's save those dollars! Let's save that energy! It will also cut our greenhouse gas emissions!
