UNEMPLOYMENT = COMMUNITY SERVICE

If we are going to pay people who are unemployed, why don't we get some work out of them!? If nothing else, maybe there can be a minimum amount of community service required to collect these benifits! Just think of all the community projects that could be accomplished by all these millions of people! They would still have more than enough time to search for new jobs, and it might even incintivise some of the people that ...more »

Stop Paying Twice for Windows

We buy computers from Dell. Each computer comes with a license from Microsoft. (Sticker with license key) We then buy an Enterprise license to install Windows (any version) on that computer. Dell sells computers without Windows. We can buy our computers without Microsoft licenses, and then install our Enterprise software. (Volume Licensing) We never use the preinstalled version, and we never use the license key we pay ...more »

SSI money used to support families of illegal aliens

We currently pay SSI benefits to a parent of a disabled child. The maximum amount payable is $674.00 per month. We pay this amount to a parent even if the parent is an illegal alien who does not have a social security number. If this parent, who does not have a social security number, has several disabled children, SSI will pay up $674.00 per month per child. There is not a maximum amount payable per family. ...more »

Stop Monetary SSI Benefits to Children

The Social Security Handbook says, “The basic purpose of SSI is to assure a limited level of income to people who are aged, blind, or disabled, and have limited income and resources.” Although many children suffer from significant childhood illnesses or impairments, administering monetary benefits to a child who has not reached the legal working age in an effort to “supplement” his/her household income seems illogical. ...more »

Stop SSI benefits to convicted smugglers

Seems simple. Stop giving SSI checks to convicted smugglers. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. We apprehended and convicted an alien smuggler and also encountered his SSI check stubs as well as a recent receipt for $2,000+ wheels and tires for his car. We contacted SSI to cancel the SSI checks. They advised that if we provided proof that the subject was incarcerated, they would stop the SSI payments during his ...more »

Suspend SSI Benefits When Wages Not Reported

SSI beneficiaires are currently required to report their gross wages for a given month within the first 6 days of the next month in order to ensure correct payment amounts in the following month. However, most SSI recipients and parents of receipients do not follow through with their reporting responsibilities and continue to receive the maximum benefits for many months. It is not until the following tax year that Social ...more »

Put a monthly cap on SSA payments to families with children

Currently hard-working Americans who pay Social Security taxes have a cap on the maximum payable to their family. But a family receiving SSI payments can receive an unlimited amount of monthly payments because there is no cap on payments to households with children receiving SSI. I know of cases where SSI families receive much more than the maximum paid to tax-paying Social Security beneficiaries. This seems patently ...more »

stop accepting $10.00 repayment on debts

ssa currently is obligated to accept, when a beneficiary has proven limited income and resources, repayments at rates as little as $10.00 per month on overpayments as large as $20000.00 or more. It is a joke. We are discouraged from suggesting settlements, even though the possibitity of recouping $6000.00 from a 50 year old is slim to none by the time he is deceased. why don't we either raise that absurd limit or push ...more »

SSI disabilty cessations after periods of SGA

Currently a Social Security disability beneficiary will have their benefits suspended after engaging in substantial gainful activity for a specified period. Supplemental Security Income recipients can continue enagaing in SGA and never have their disability ceased. In fact, beneficiaries who receive both programs can have their SS disability ceased and their SSI increased rather than also being terminated. SSI rules ...more »
