UNEMPLOYMENT = COMMUNITY SERVICE

If we are going to pay people who are unemployed, why don't we get some work out of them!? If nothing else, maybe there can be a minimum amount of community service required to collect these benifits! Just think of all the community projects that could be accomplished by all these millions of people! They would still have more than enough time to search for new jobs, and it might even incintivise some of the people that ...more »

Stop helping everyone else and help OURSELVES!!

The US is willing to spend our hard earned tax dollars helping other countries that don't even want to help themselves. It's time to stop paying foreign aid and save that money until we can turn our debt around. Once we get our debt under control we can revisit the idea of wasting our money on other countries.

END BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP!!

This is an idea from the 1800s that anyone born on United States soil is automatically a citizen. Other countries do not do this! You have to be born of a citizen to be a citizen. I think ending this practice will basically solve one of the biggest immigration issues we have. The practice of illegal imigrant coming here to have children (aka anchor babies) so that they can stay in this country. Just something to think ...more »

40 hour work week in 4 days

I recommend that all federal agencies would work 4 days 10 hours each. This way the government will have a total of 3 days without using the resources it takes to run the buildings, i.e. electric, water usage, cooling/heating, etc.

Reciprocate Security clearances within all Federal Government!

We spend billions of dollars on background investigation for Federal employees (including soldiers leaving the service going to Federal employment) with current clearances by the Federal Government, due in part to disconnect. A Federal employee going from one Federal Agency to another should take no more than a month. However due to redoing (Cleared Employee) the extensive background investigation it takes more money, ...more »

One Security Clearance to Cover all Agencies

My idea is to have one security clearance, or background check to cover all, or at least most agencies. For example right now a person can already have a Top-Secret clearance with the Department of Defense, and they would have to start a background investigation all over again if they were to apply with another agency, even if it’s only for a Secret clearance. They would have to fill out the same SF-86, the same eQip ...more »

Government Overspending

The US Governemnt pays top dollar on everything that they purchase. WHY!? We buy most things in bulk and you would think that we would get it for a cheaper price but we don't. Stop the useless overspending. I am an aircraft mechanic for the DoD and US Air Force Reserves. when we pay $250,000.00 for a winch it's getting a little ridiculous or $70,000.00 for a windshield, or even $5.00 bot a 10 cent bolt. Needless to say ...more »

Zero Tolerance for Fraud

The GAO estimates $17 BILLION dollars of improper Medicare payments each year. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays out $4.6 BILLION in improper and fraudulent benefits annually. The Department of Veterans Affairs loses $800 MILLION annually on improper and fraudulent payments. And the FRAUD list goes on and on and on, totaling OVER $100 BILLION PER YEAR!!! 1ST...I suggest that we include the statement ...more »

Less frequent replacement of plastic bags in trash cans

I have noticed that when the janitors come around to empty people's trash cans (which typically occurs once or twice a day), they often take out the plastic bag with the trash in it and put a new bag on the trash can. This is wasteful both with regard to the cost of the plastic bags and the external cost to the environment. Most of the time it would be perfectly acceptable for the janitors to simply dump out the contents ...more »

Stop Selling Soda and Junk Food in Federal Buildings

Similar to Michelle Obama's push for getting schools to provide healthier eating options to children, the federal government should also promote good nutrition by limiting the availability of unhealthy food in federal facilities. For example, vending machines would no longer offer sugary drinks or other types of junk food such as candy bars and potato chips, which would be replaced with healthier items. Those who wish ...more »

Solar Panels on Every Federal Building.

Solar Panels on Every Federal Building. This will save lots of money and can make money by sending extra power to power companies and they would have to pay the government. May allow for charging of electric cars at a fee basis. Vote for this idea show that people care about our environment. Thank you!!

Inmate Pay is a waist of $$ Paper 2.6 million copies each year

1. Paper waist 2.6 million pieces a year I work for the Bureau of Prisons and we currently have 217,000 inmates all of which are required to work a job. Every month we calculate pay on the computer for the inmates and every month we print pay sheets. So that is 217,000 pieces of paper every month, 2,604,000 pieces of paper every year and the number is growing. Which is just a waist of paper not including the ink ...more »
