UNEMPLOYMENT = COMMUNITY SERVICE

If we are going to pay people who are unemployed, why don't we get some work out of them!? If nothing else, maybe there can be a minimum amount of community service required to collect these benifits! Just think of all the community projects that could be accomplished by all these millions of people! They would still have more than enough time to search for new jobs, and it might even incintivise some of the people that ...more »

END BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP!!

This is an idea from the 1800s that anyone born on United States soil is automatically a citizen. Other countries do not do this! You have to be born of a citizen to be a citizen. I think ending this practice will basically solve one of the biggest immigration issues we have. The practice of illegal imigrant coming here to have children (aka anchor babies) so that they can stay in this country. Just something to think ...more »

SWAG Stuff We All Get You have seen it in your unit’s storage or at a recruiting event. We give it out to visitors at trade shows or at an unit open house event. Coffee cups, calendars, key chains, pens, challenge coins, you name it and the only thing in common is the sticker on the bottom; Made in China. It is time to impose immediate legislation that will prohibit the purchase of foreign made items for official ...more »

Mandate that this site be uttilized

Mandate that the top 100 ideas at a minimum are forwarded to the involved agency executive for review and comment. There are an extensive amount of valuable ideas here that may not score number one. It would be tremendous waste of effort if those below number one were not reviewed for consideration. We all have an idea or two here, we all put effort into this, what a waste if the ideas were simply deleted. Mandate that ...more »

Stop Paying Twice for Windows

We buy computers from Dell. Each computer comes with a license from Microsoft. (Sticker with license key) We then buy an Enterprise license to install Windows (any version) on that computer. Dell sells computers without Windows. We can buy our computers without Microsoft licenses, and then install our Enterprise software. (Volume Licensing) We never use the preinstalled version, and we never use the license key we pay ...more »

Stop FEMA from funding rebuilding in flood plains

Places like much of New Orleans which is below sea level are not fit for human habitation and should not be built upon and instead should be used to naturally control flooding, allowed to return to their natural states as wetlands.

Taxpayer dollars should not be spent to rebuild in areas which will surely be flooded again.

Save money with realistic hours of operation for FEMA

FEMA call center staff currently work 7a-1a Eastern, 7 days per week. 86% of their registrations are taken M-F and 94% are taken from 8a-9p, most by 8pm. Reducing the hours of operation to M-F, 8a-8p would save the Agency upwards of $1M in night/weekend differential pay and $1M+ in nighttime facility services with little degradation in service. FEMA offers a website by which a survivor can check the status of their ...more »

Consolidate DHS Seized Property Operations

Currently; Border Patrol, CBP, FPS, ICE, TSA and the US Coast Guard have their own facilities, policy, processes, and specialist personnel to handle seized property and contraband. By consolidating all of these facilities and processes into one DHS seized property system, cost savings and efficiency will occur. Why does ICE need a seized property vault in the same geographical location as CBP? Consolidate these facilities ...more »

Disaster Housing that converts to Permanent Housing

Produce disaster housing units that meet the IBC (International Building Code), with a flat roof and pre-framed door and hallway openings that allows expansion modules and a permanent pitched roof to be added at a later date. In so doing, FEMA can leverage its investment in temporary housing to create long term permanent housing for impacted communities. The initial temporary base modules must be rapidly deployable, as ...more »

Bring back the punch clock!

Keeping track of the hours worked of millions of federal employees is an important job. Federal workers do not get paid automatically by salary, although many folks have rigged the electronic timesheet system that way. We can save our nation money by putting in an old fashioned honest day's work, day in and day out. But who is keeping track/ Who is watching? In certain branches a few supervisors are watching, but by and ...more »

Federal Employee Video Testimony

Routinely the DOJ and US Attorneys Office will subpoena Federal employees to testify in cases outside of the employee's geographical work area. These cases can often be cross country in nature as currently my office on the West Coast is working to find funding to send an employee to the East Coast for under one hour of general background testimony. A cross country flight and hotel for less than one hour of general testimony. ...more »

Build Temp-to-Perm Neighborhoods after disasters

Temp-to-Perm Neighborhoods (TPN) offer an option to traditional FEMA Group Sites. Infrastructure for TPN’s such as roadways, water, sewer and electrical lines are installed so that they can be reused for the development of future permanent housing on the same site. The full extent of the permanent infrastructure such as asphalt paving or sidewalks need not be completed at the temporary use stage. While the initial cost ...more »
