Install motion detector lighting in offices to limit the amount of lights left on. Energy savings= money savings. In the hundreds of thousands of federal offices this would add up quickly.

Professional Athlete Pay

If we could cut the amount of money we put into professional sports events and the amount of pay we give athletes to play. We could help the national debt and not have to worry about destroying the middle and lower class americans life.

Social Security Benefits for incomes over 250k

Dependents and those under social security recieve social security benefits, even with household incomes over 250k. If social security for those over 250k was reduced further or eliminated it would save a lot of money. Supplying money to those who are able to save for retirement is not exactly the intent behind Social Security.

Allow individuals to invest in their portion of national debt.

The reward being that their annual taxes would be lowered by the amount (currently ~12% and growing) it takes just to pay interest. Obviously, if you pay ahead, you are no longer responsible for that debt interest. As an investment, it makes complete sense for anyone who can begin to do this. We don't have enough M1 or even M3 money lying around to tackle the whole debt problem, but working our way out through what I ...more »

One Dollar Down

What if every American gave "One Dollar Down" toward our deficit? We don't mind giving immigrants benefits. We buy five dollar cups of coffee. What is one dollar? What would it hurt to ask? It is our country, after all. Every man, woman and child...just one dollar.

Tax Incentives for “American” Products/Stores/Purchasers

Americans WANT to “Buy American”. However, many products are made more cheaply overseas and Americans are financially strapped and thus forced to buy the “cheap versions” of foreign-made products. One way to combat this continuing attrition is to offer substantial subsidies to American made products. However, the better way to do this is to offer tax breaks for those who provide American products and services for U.S. ...more »

Some if these ideas submitted should already be in policy at agencies, but there are some really innovative ideas summited ...more »

A flat tax proposal would eliminate provisions of the tax code that give preferential tax treatment to certain behaviors and activities. Getting ...more »

Eliminate Income Tax and IRS for Federal Sales Tax

Multiple benefits can result by the change from income tax to a federal sales tax. First, labor savings by the reduction or elimination of the IRS. Second, a sales tax will essentially tax the black market. Even drug dealers buy things. Third, apply this tax to all internet sales. We could even go so far as to eliminate cash for all credit transactions. Imagine the savings by not having to print bills or coins or ...more »

Mandatory Drug Testing

If a person wants to qualify for any federally funded government program, they must agree to mandatory drug testing. All states(as Florida did) should not give aid unless there is mandatory drug testing.

T&A Accountability

Eliminate the paper T&A and go electronic like most companies. Our system is so outdated! Have a card that they can swipe in and out of work. This would have numerous benefits. Reduce errors on T&As which cost money and aggravation to staff not being paid correctly. The manhours wasted on T&A is ridiculous. Stop wasting so much paper. Increased accountability of staff - staff are more likely to come to and leave work ...more »
