National Sales Tax - read before dismissing

We’ve all heard the ongoing debate regarding raising taxes and the national deficit. The truth is raising income taxes will not eliminate the national debt. No one wants to pay more taxes but if we need to do it, I would prefer a national sales tax vice income tax (I would prefer to pay a slightly higher tax than lose my job). A national sales tax would be the only way to get the 20,000,000+ undocumented workers or ...more »

Mandate that this site be uttilized

Mandate that the top 100 ideas at a minimum are forwarded to the involved agency executive for review and comment. There are an extensive amount of valuable ideas here that may not score number one. It would be tremendous waste of effort if those below number one were not reviewed for consideration. We all have an idea or two here, we all put effort into this, what a waste if the ideas were simply deleted. Mandate that ...more »

National Debt

I suggest that we do NOT give any more money and/or supplies and/or help to any other country until we pay off our National Debt. Common Sense says that we need to take care of our own first! If you work for the government you must take care of any just debt. That should go for us as a country as well. Let other countries step up and help more, we been doing it for too long. We need to worry about #1 and we are #1 ...more »

Executive Order Prohibiting Workplace Bullying in Agencies

Research shows current legal protections for employees are inadequate to address status-blind hostile work environment claims, also known as workplace bullying. Employees who face harassment or bullying on the job generally cannot combat the problem unless the bullying is based on protected class status. A 2007 survey indicated that 37% of American workers, about 54 million workers, have been bullied at work. Research ...more »

Presidential Spending

Reduce the usage of AirForce one and similar vessels in times of economical trouble. The President should not be taking unnecessary trips or vacations while most American's are looking for work. His misuse of our tax dollars are outrageous. If he needs Airforce one it should be on stand by but it should not be used as a taxi cab to accomodae his personal pleasure, especially when most American can not afford gas. Mr. ...more »

Make all US Govt souvenirs Made in America

Any pins, cup holders or other souvenirs sold by the Federal government should be made in America. This would create jobs, help the trade deficit and support our own businesses.

Increase implementation of quality SAVE Award ideas annually

What good is asking Federal employees for their ideas if only a handful will be implemented? Respectfully, I suggest that significantly more of the ideas submitted to the SAVE Award site be seriously considered, evaluated, and implemented annually. The SAVE Award homepage reports that over 56,000 ideas have been submitted by Federal employees during the past two years - likely while on government time - yet only dozens ...more »

dress code appropriate for the weather/temperature

A majority of the energy cost in my home is due to heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. I would assume that a massive amount of federal money goes to heating and cooling office space. Current dress codes and customs suggest that a person should dress exactly the same in both winter and summer. This requires more heating/cooling costs for buildings as they try to reach 70 degrees for every work day. Instead, ...more »
