I found out that the only reason that the ACOE is responsible for permitting wetlands is because their MOU with EAP was due to an act of Congress. The ACOE has no business permitting wetlands because they don't have a clue about what they are doing. They are engineers NOT scientists. As a result, people such as my husband, who had a stroke and me, are getting hurt. We lost our access to clean water 6 years ago when the... more »
EXOP - Office of Science and Technology Policy
I am an IT Security Engineer that has worked for numerous agencies within multiple different departments (DOD, DOS, DHS, Treasury, etc...). It seems to me that every agency insists on having their own IT Security Policy for sensitive but unclassified data even though I would estimate that about 90% of it is the same no matter what agency it is. So you have USGS, and NOAA, and NSF, and all the other mapping agencies. Why so many?
Is there value in combining the functions and getting rid of an agency?
Is it too much to ask for databases to update each other? Lets start with TSP. How about TSP and EBIS talk to each. They can be friends go out to lunch, take walks in the park. Just have friendly chats. There are thousands of gov't computer systems that should exhange information, but don't. Like examples of mailing social security checks to people in prison, or social security thinking you have died. Thinking about... more »
A follow to my post below: I learned that although the gov't has well-trained, talented people, we are using outside contractors to do the work at $300 an hour that we could/should do ourselves. The speed at which technology is outpacing government practices calls for a new way for departments and agencies to keep up the pace. Each agency has used, is currently using or plans to create tools that will take advantage... more »
