The DoD/USGOV would save incredible amounts of water and money by simply mandating that all installations install rain sensors in the base sprinkler systems. I have seen base sprinkler systems watering the grass during rain storms on almost every base I have served. This would save water and money, and would be a great PR "Green Initiative".
iNCREASE OPTION OF PERMITTING ALL COMMUNITY BASED STAFF TO WORK FROM HOME. We have increae in laptop and home computer access to VA/governement information. This would save time and office expense and be more cost effective
Cut every government agencies budget 10% except for the VA, DoD and Law Enforcement. This will force leaders to tighten the belt. This would save Billions a year Then at the end of the fiscal year instead of spend it or lose it the left over money can be added to the next year budget. The end of the fiscal year causes agencies to waste money. This can also help with saving money for long term projects. Office supplies ...more »
No bonuses should be paid to employees working for congress and senate. When we have citizens in this country that need work and are losing their homes to foreclosure we all need to make sacrifices. People during WWII rationed so can legislation. I would even go as far as saying no bonus money for any government employees for 2 years.

Delete or greatly reduce employee travel by using teleconferences instead Government-wide. This would save enormous amounts of money and the employees could still be close at hand for emergency siotuations. You just need to make an initial investment in top of the line Teleconferencing Equipment, perhaps more than one per station for those stations that have a certain amount of travel. The savings in travel could pay ...more »

As everyone knows our salaries/wages did not increase this year. However, I believe there is a way for the govt to save money and still reward employees with an increase. Instead of automatically increasing the base salaries every year, consider only increasing the base salary every two to three years, however, increase each step by a % or $ amount. So, if new people come aboard, they will start out with the base that ...more »

This results in long residence time for stored hazardous wastes - resulting in unsafe, dangerous conditions which are ...more »
Here are my suggestion(s) to help the government stop wasting the taxpayer's money: 1) They should not be allowed to deduct their personal living expenses while in Washington. Ever hear of a tax home? The ordinary citizen cannot deduct their personal living expenses where they work. 2) Stop going on all these trips abroad. Does it really take an entire committee to go view a disaster area? 3) Stop using taxpayer ...more »
