Save Water

The DoD/USGOV would save incredible amounts of water and money by simply mandating that all installations install rain sensors in the base sprinkler systems. I have seen base sprinkler systems watering the grass during rain storms on almost every base I have served. This would save water and money, and would be a great PR "Green Initiative".

Waste of money on big screen tvs.

Every time I go into any medical facility or pretty much any office I see big flat screens with "sign in" scrolling on it. What happened to good old dry eraser boards? Not only that, but there is a flat screen every 10 feet with some random useless information that could just be written on a dry erase board. Save money and have more regulation on the people that are in charge of ordering items.

Consolidate and leverage job knowledge across all US agencies

With the increase use of Consultants due to lack of skills within an agency, it is cost effective to leverage current US Government Employees education and job knowledge across all agencies where needed there is a need without going through long and tenuous process to apply for positions . Most select the contract route due to the ease to obtain resources to fill the agency’s needs quickly. For example an individual ...more »

Less Waste More Budgeting

A great deal of money is being wasted in areas that are not as necessary as others. We need to find an easier way to channel money from one account to the next. As stated by a fellow community member, there is a mass spending every year on things we do not necessarily need just so we do not give them money back. Instead of handing the money back or completely spending it on random things, we can transfer the account ...more »

GSA Leased Vehicles

With the cut-back of personal why should we keep GSA leased vehicles when they are setting for weeks at a time not being used. I know that there are at least four that have not moved for a month here at the Bureau.

Baseline budgets

Eliminate the automatic increase in baseline budgets year over year (freeze them) and you would have incredible savings. For a 4 trillion dollar enconomy this would mean a savings of over 9 trillion dollars over 10 years. The government would not have to eliminate any programs. There would necessarily be adjustments to individual agency budgets, but it would be quick, a whole lot easier than what is transpiring now, and ...more »

Industrial Specialist

As each agency comes to the "End of the Physical Year" they try to spend every penny they can so during the next year they will have close to the same budget or even a higher one. This causes spending for unneeded items. If a "Super Fund" was established and all of the un-used moneies were consolidated in this "Super Fund" then if an agency falls short they could request money from the fund with justification and receive ...more »

Stop allowing illegal aliens to get free medical thru Medicare and Medicaid. If they don’t have a birth certificate and a valid social security card, they don’t receive a free handout. Stop pork barrel spending. Stop inmates from receiving tax returns, pensions, VA benefits, etc., at both the State and Federal level. Cap the limit on family sizes that receive benefits such as food stamps, social security, welfare ...more »

Streamline Telework and save energy and environment

I suggest that all government employees asked to use Friday as the teleworking day, with the exception of public transaction services (e.g. Social Security, Veteran Benefits Service, passport service, Immigration service etc.) Presently practices teleworking of employees on random days does not save energy efficiently. HVAC and lights are on even if few people on the floor are working. If ALL employes telework on Fridays, ...more »

Random Security Clearance Re-Investigations

In conjunction with the update of security clearance information through the e-governance process, turn re-investigations into a random process. If random testing is good enough for drug testing, why not random re-investigations with data bases that are up-to-date and comprehensive checks of police as well as credit bureau data bases.
