Concerned taxpayer

Tax reform is badly needed to balance the budget and decrease the deficit. All governments payments should be taxed. Self-employed individuals who receive government payments offset the income with expenses on the IRS returns. How do they incur expenses on income that was direct deposited to their account? They do not even pay for gasoline to go get the check; however, they pay no income tax on the money. Government ...more »

Many government travelers wrongly submit on their travel voucher for foreign hotel lodging by using the exchange rate given to them by the hotel. This rate is not the same rate charged by the government credit card vendor. Consequently, many overseas travelers are submitting claims for overseas lodging that are greater than what they were actually charged. Travelers should be required to submit a copy of their government ...more »

Decrease data usage/server expenses

Employees should have stricter limits on server usage, including stricter caps on Outlook inbox size and caps on memory usage in shared network drives. Limiting per capita network memory usage would decrease the need for more servers (saving costs on hardware, storage space, and upkeep) and would help to avoid costly network crashes.

Currently, many Medicare beneficiaries have coverage based on ESRD only (i.e. they are not 65). This coverage is either for ongoing dialysis and/or helps cover transplantation and subsequent immunosuppressive drug therapy. However, the coverage only lasts for only 36 months post transplant. When this unique Medicare benefit expires, many beneficiaries are left to cover the cost of the immunosuppressive drugs on their ...more »

A lot of federal jobs have minimum qualifications that include a college degree or professional certification. When you require those things, you have to pay a higher salary than to a high school grad. The question is, how many jobs actually need college diplomas or professional certifications? All jobs should be looked at to make sure the minimum qualifications are really needed to do the job and then the jobs should ...more »

New Clocks Save time and increase efficiency

Replace old clocks that need to be reset when the time changes with daylight savings. Install radio controlled clocks in all work spaces. This idea will eliminate the twice a year adjustment for daylight savings. It will also ensure that all clocks reflect the same time. It will help federal employees to improve efficiency by wasting less time waiting for meetings to begin.
