Make USPS Shipping a Mandatory Option in Fed Gov't Facilities

USPS Priority and Express Mail are very cost effective and dependable shipping solutions. Yet, USPS is not even available as a shipping option in some federal government facilities. USPS shipping supplies and training should be available to anyone military or civil servant. Granted, not everything can be shipped using USPS, but it should be the preferable option when and where it's most cost effective. It will not ...more »

END BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP!!

This is an idea from the 1800s that anyone born on United States soil is automatically a citizen. Other countries do not do this! You have to be born of a citizen to be a citizen. I think ending this practice will basically solve one of the biggest immigration issues we have. The practice of illegal imigrant coming here to have children (aka anchor babies) so that they can stay in this country. Just something to think ...more »

Leave Without Pay

Allow employees to take a day off without pay. This will save the Gov't Millions. Those who can afford it, can save their Annual Leave and take a single day off per pay period without pay. Pretty simple request in VistA, and can easily be approved by immediate supervisor.

ELIMINATE COMMERCIAL AIRLINE CONTRACT FLIGHTS

There is very little need for GSA exclusive contracts with airline companies that charge the government extraordinary amount for the same flight. Government workers can book their own flights online for hundreds, even thousands less. For example, flights from DAY to DCA are about $1300 while it can be found on Kayak or Expedia for less than $300. Most travel are not cancelled, cancellation fees should be deductible ...more »

Tax Fraud

I work for the IRS. Every day I see accounts that, because of my training, I can easily see are involved in fraud. I also get taxpayers & preparers who admit to me over the phone that the SSN they are using was bought, stolen, etc. You think there would be a way for me to report this to someone in my agency, wouldn't you? You would be wrong. I have been told that I can submit a 3949-A, an Information Referral form, ...more »

Welfare

I think everyone that is receiving welfare, should have to go through the same drug screening as the military. If they fail they would lose their benefits. I also think they should re-evaluate everyone on welfare.

Eliminate End of Year Spending

Eliminate End of year spending. Allow money to cross fiscal years. This would eliminate the need to do new Purchase orders every October 1 for contracts from the previous years. If money can flow across the FY then it has the ability to save the government time, money and energy. There should be an incentive to return any unused portion of an agencies budget to the treasury.

Pay Freeze for Congressional Members

Congressional members should be under the same pay freeze federal government employees are. In fact, they should change the legislation that allows their pay to increase automatically. The new legislation should link their pay changes to federal government employees pay changes.

Stop penalizing agencies for not spending all their FY money

At the end of the fiscal year, agencies that have carryover money are put in a position to spend that money or lose it in future budget cycles. Why not reward agencies for saving money at the years end by ensuring they get the same amount or more in the next budget cycle? Or through some other means of reward where they are not penalized in the next budget cycle for their fiscal responsibility? There is so much government ...more »

I agree with *Legalizing Marijuana* with provisions

(I don't partake but) - Legalize marijuana- quit spending Federal Funds to hunt down illegal growers, recreational users and closing dispenceries for medical marijuana for the sick and weary. Stop bugging campers who just want to get away from it all, and all the other folks that just want to relax. Quit making the general public pay for lawyers, and court costs because of the stupid law, and let the soft core prisoners ...more »

Eliminate Vehicles and private jets for high ranking Officers

Currently in the DoD we treat our high ranking officers like kings. We provide them mansions to live in, grounds keepers, cooks, drivers, secretaries and aids. They get treated as well as a CEO of a fortune 500 company at tax payers expense. All of this goes on while the SES that works in the office next to them drives their own car, pays for their own gas, pays for their own house, transportation etc. Just because ...more »

Firing Unproductive GS Employees

The time and energy required to fire unproductive government employees is excessive and dissuades action. As a result, the effort is rarely made. The employee continues to be unproductive and the rest of the office is forced to pick up the load. Poor productivity is not tolerated in the private, for profit sector. Shouldn’t be when working for the government either.
