The Federal Government will save on travel costs if they change travel regulations regarding personal time or vacation time. Travel should be limited to official business or reduce reimbursement. When family members travel with the employee reimbursement should automatically be reduced by half for lodging, airfare should be reduced by half, and rental cars will not be covered. This will result in fewer trips taken. The majority of Domestic and Foreign Conferences are now held at Resorts - this needs to stop. It is much cheaper to hold a conference at the Government Agency and only approved GSA Conference Sites should be used. Employees should be limited to attending trade shows to once every 4 years. It is not necessary for a lot of the travel that is being allowed.
