Can we not afford to put a little money and effort into making the grounds between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial look "nice." Trees... shrubbery... grass... edging... sidewalks that are not broken/buckled. Also, the roads are total crap... had three flat tires in two weeks on Constitution Ave NW (near the Washington Memorial). Road's been under construction for months now. Crappy before, crappy now, sure to be crappy in the future. Kudos for the individual buildings (though the architecture is all over the place... how about picking a theme and sticking with it?). Also, I like the statues at the eastern entrance to the Arlington Memorial Bridge. Anyway, it's embarrassing to bring foreign pals for a look around... remember, you only get one chance to make a good first impression.
