Income earned and treated as tax-free in the AOR needs to be reviewed. The tax-free amount should be pro-rated based on the number of days in the AOR out of the entire month. It would be interesting to learn the number of temporary duty rotations (or flight crews touching down in AOR for minimum number of days) to learn how many trips cross over into two months to qualify 2 months as tax free versus one. Pro-rating the number of days would stop any abuse and increase revenue to the Department of the Treasury.
