Both attorney representatives and non-attorney representatives currently receive travel reimbursement from the Social Security Administration for participation in a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge ("ALJ"). The agency recently reduced the amount of travel reimbursement for representatives, which does not appear to have impacted the hearing process. By eliminating travel reimbursement for representatives entirely, the agency would save significant funds without compromising the integrity or quality of the hearing process.
