Medicare alerts SSA when no claims filed in 24 mos over age 80

Medicare should send an alert to the Social Security Administration when they have a claimant over the age of 80 that has not used their Medicare in 24 months. When Medicare alerts SSA that no claims have been filed, SSA can verify if the beneficiary is still alive or if there is fraud occuring. Currently SSA has a "Centurnarian Project" where we investigate or verify the life of any beneficiary claiming benefits over the age of 103. This year alone we have found more than $8 million in fraudulent checks paid. By getting an alert at the age of 80, this is 20-23 years sooner than our current rules and can save the trust fund millions on a yearly basis.
