FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE CHILDREN ON SSI

Must introduce a family maximum benefit rate to SSI benefits for families applying for more than one disabled child. I submitted my idea directly to the Social Security Administration. My suggestion was not adopted. I was told my suggestion cannot be adopted because it would require a change in the law. I was told a family maximum SSI benefit cannot be instituted unless Section 1611(b) of the Social Security Act is revised by Congress. I believe a change in Law is required/necessary in order to save millions of dollars paying SSI to families who are applying and being approved for several disabled children. Parents of these disabled children can receive up to $737.40 per month currently for each disabled child on SSI, of course this amount depends on parents income. In addition to SSI benefits some of these parents are receiving help from The Housing Authority Section 8 paying a low monthly rent. No one knows how parents who are receiving SSI benefits for more than one child per month are spending the SSI money. I suggest the law needs to be changed. Thank you
