We need to find ways to reduce beauracracy, flatten the organization eliminating some non-essential leadership positions, and benchmark to learn how some of the corporate giants develop and maintain success. Many successful organizations have moved toward a team approach, whereas teams develop and implement solutions. With the government, we are still very much top-down in our approach which stifles ideas, creativity, and innovation. We also tend to work in silos in the government. There does not appear to be sharing across departments or realizing savings across departments.
