If a post is required to be manned 24 hours a day (such as many in the BOP) why not make make the posts 12 hours shifts. This will eliminate one post in each unit which can be lost by attrition. Thus, saving money in not only salary but also in money spent on benefits such as insurance, vacations and so on.
This would be a benefit to the employees as well by working 3 days one week and 4 the next giving the person more time away from stressful posts.
Additionally, it will go along with the President's Green project by eliminating trips back and forth to work. Which will save on fuel, emissions, and other associated environmental issues caused by the extra traffic.
